Whatever your reason for planning to study in Australia or New Zealand, make sure that it is the right decision for you.  In this section we outline some of the practical implications of moving - managing your money, lifestyle, family and right to be there, so that you can be sure to have an enjoyable and successful study experience.

First and foremost, the question you must consider is whether you are going to be happy with your choice to study Down Under.  Make sure you choose your course and your location carefully and then work towards that objective.  You will be studying as an international student, and will be expected to pay tuition fees per each year of your study.  It is much better to pay a little bit extra for the right course than to cut corners and leave with an unsuitable qualification, so although you should be aware of the fees, try not to make it a deciding factor.  In this section we have provided some guidelines for fee amounts, although you should contact Study Options for up-to-date fee information for a course.

As with any study period, you will need to fund your daily costs like rent, bills, food and entertainment.  How and where you choose to live will have a big impact on your finances, so it is important to research how much you will realistically spend on a day-to-day basis wherever you are studying.  Don't expect to live on a shoe string budget if you are living and partying in central Sydney every night!  Have a look at the pages on living costs and working on a student visa for more information about managing your finances.

To study in Australia or New Zealand you will need to make sure you have the correct visa and health insurance.  If you are travelling with your family or a partner, you will need to ensure that they are also covered.  You are personally responsible for arranging your own visa and abiding by all the restrictions put in place by your visa, although Study Options can assist with your application forms and any questions that you might have about this process.

Getting there, and back!  Australia and New Zealand are a very long way away from the UK, so before you apply, please think about how much it might cost you to travel home and see relatives in the case of an emergency or wanting to take a holiday.
