“I’m not due to start my course for a while yet – it’ll begin in 2013. After deciding that working in hospitality was the right path for me, choosing a course was not that difficult. There were two things about this particular programme that made it right for me. First, it has a big tourism element, and I’m very interested in that; and second, it includes a paid work-placement year. This not only will allow me to earn some much needed income to fund a lot of my final year, but it will also allow me to gain a year of work experience which is extremely important in the hospitality industry.
“I chose William Angliss because I met someone from the college at one of Study Options’ roadshows. It was a combination of the college, the course and also Melbourne that led me to choose William Angliss.
“I want to study in Australia for lots of reasons, but the main ones is that there is nowhere better in the world to study hospitality. In the UK the industry does not appear to be that highly regarded, but in Australia it is an extremely well respected profession. Also, the people seem kind and friendly, and there is just something enormously exciting about the idea of studying in a country I’ve never been to before. I’ll be learning and living in a whole new culture!
“I’m planning to work while I’m studying, it’ll be vital to generate an income to cover some living costs. Without that I would not be able to afford to study in Australia. It will also give me some much needed work experience, so when I finish I will have as much experience under my belt as possible.
“I have never visited Australia before. For me that’s part of the excitement!
“I hope I will get many things from my study experience. The most important thing for me is to make some good friends. This is not only because I want mates who I will stay in touch with for the rest of my life, it’s also because I know that living so far from home the friends you make are incredibly important as they are going to be the ones you turn to when things are not going so well. I also hope to get lots of memories as well as some good employment opportunities. I hope I will finish college knowing that going to Australia was the best choice I could have ever made. That would be a big achievement and a great feeling, knowing the most important decision of my life so far was a correct one!”
